Thing-11 Widgets
So as far as widgets are concerned I love them. On my school wiki I have the Voki that I change seasonally. On my psychology class blogs I have a few different ones. Most of them are quotes, another one is a countdown to graduation. On my Google page I have a hamster that runs around the cage. As far as widgets are concerned I am getting better and imbedding code, but I still need some work on the higher tech stuff such as manipulating code.

Thing Ten-Twitter
I signed up for twitter along time ago and I have tried to do it but I find it odd. Although I am truly addicted to facebook, I don't get the point of announcing what you are doing every second of everyday. Although I can see why it is addicting to kids, it isn't really my cup of tea.
After spending some time on those top list sites I realized a lot of them are similar in nature. They are either ways of using the Internet better or searching the Internet better. One my favorite sites that was mentioned was Esty. I love that sight. I have found many great things that I love including hand spun and hand died yarn to make some new knitting projects out of (I taught myself how to knit last year and something to cross of my bucket list) now I am a bit obsessed. I am still working on learning my skills but as my skill gets better so does my need for yarn!

Thing Nine-Creative Commons
I do think that a lot of us use information such as videos, online writings, photos and do not give people the proper credit. I myself try to at least put on all images and written materials where I have gotten them from, but often I haven't checked to see if I have permission to get make those copies or use that information. As was said in the activity, I think that with tighter budgets sometimes we don't want to check if we are using materials in the proper way because we might find out that we can't use it without paying for it.
Also, I think that as technology gets easier and easier for children to use it becomes easier and easier for them to steal information as well and work from other people and not give them credit where credit is do. Every year in Psychology I assign a research paper and every year I catch more and more students who are plagiarizing. In fact, this year I even found that one of the sources a student used was actually plagiarized from another site. It was frightening with advancing technology who easy this type of thing can be.

Thing 8
Youtube Video
The reason I chose this video is it is nice summary of our colonial history and that is the point that needs to be reviewed before starting US History. Since I am teaching a higher level course of US History this year I figured rather then go over everything with detail like I do in the lower level watching a video like this as part of homework seems like a good option. Videos are easy enough to imbed on a wiki which is where I plan to put homework etc.

Thing 7-youtube
Truthfully I have never been a youtube freak like some people I know. I figured I would poke around and start looking for something to use in the start of a new prep that I am going to be teaching this fall. United States History Level 2. I did manage to find a few videos while looking around the met my requirement but I did have to wade through a lot of crap to get there. It is not that there wasn't good videos online, there were. But I am an instant gratification person and I don't like to wait. This is probably my reason for not really liking using youtube because there is a lot of work to get something good. That being said I can see why students really like this sight because it is instant fun videos at their finger tips.
